چکیده

Ah&act-Steady state thermomechanical deformations of a thick viscoplastic target being penetrated by a fast moving long rigid cylindrical penetrator are analysed by the finite element method. Two different constitutive relations, the Bodner-Partom flow rule, and the Litonski-Batra flow rule, are used to model the viscoplastic response of the material. The two flow rules are calibrated to give essentially similar shear stress-shear strain curves during the overall adiabatic simple shearing deformations of a block deformed at an average strain-rate of 3300 s-l. For the Bodner-Partom flow rule, the effect on target deformations of the penetrator nose shape, penetrator speed, and the variation in the values of material parameters of the target is also studied.

Steady State Axisymmetric Deformations of a Thermoviscoplastic Rod Penetrating a Thick Thermoviscoplastic Target

The coupled nonlinear partial differential equations governing the thermomechanical and axisymmetric deformations, of a cylindrical rod penetrating into a thick target, also made of a rigid/viscoplastic material, are solved by the finite element method. It is assumed that the deformations of the target and the penetrator as seen by an observer situated at the stagnation point and moving with it...

A Study on Combination of von Mises and Tresca Yield Loci In Non-Associated Viscoplasticity

In this study a non-associated viscoplastic flow rule (NAVFR) with combining von Mises and Tresca loci in place of yield and plastic potential functions and vice verse is presented. With the aid of fully implicit time stepping scheme and discussing the other studies on plastic potential flow rules and also experimental results it is shown that the proposed NAVFR can be adopted to forecast the e...

Stability by homogenization of thermoviscoplastic problems

In this paper we study the homogenization of the system of partial differential equations describing the quasistatic shearing of heterogeneous thermoviscoplastic materials. We first prove the existence and uniqueness of the solution of the system for the general model. We then define “stable by homogenization” models as the models where the equations in both the heterogeneous problems and the h...

Steady State Axisymmetric Deformations of a Thick Elastic-thermoviscoplastic Target

Ah&act-We study the~om~h~~~l defo~ations of a thick elastic-~~pl~tic target being penetrated by a rigid long cylindrical rod, and assume that target defo~atio~ as seen by an observer situated at the penetrator nose tip are steady. We presume that the target response can be adequately modeled by the Brown-Kim-Anand flow rule. We analyze the effect of different material parameters on the deformat...

The effect of increasing the multiplicity of flow fields contact surface on the performance of PEM fuel cell

In this paper, three innovative 3-D geometries for flow fields of cathode and anode have been developed to investigate the comparative impact of increasing the multiplicity of the involved anode-cathode channel surface contact on the efficiency of electrochemical reaction via the same membrane electrode assembly (MEA) active area. In the introduced new models, each anode channel includes two, t...
